Let's talk about default.

Yeonbin’. My one true ship. Yeonjun and Soobin, these are two guys from my favourite K-Pop group, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and I ship them. I’m not saying they’re gay, though. I just ship them for fun and even make memes on this. Many times, for posting content about ‘Yeonbin’ on my fan account, I’ve been called out by fans for “assuming their sexuality” and just apparently saying they’re gay when “they are just some straight boys who are interested in girls” so I should not ship them. Let’s make some things clear here. I never said they’re gay, neither did I ever mention anything about their sexuality. It’s their own personal thing and as a fan, I stand nowhere to dwell into their personal business. But I was really, really interested in knowing who told those people that the idols identify as ‘straight’ or basically, ‘heterosexuals’.
Heterosexuality has always been considered the ‘default’ or the ‘birth’ sexuality, which honestly, makes no sense. People question a young child coming out as gay, they ask how he knows who he likes and doesn’t like at such a young age, they keep shunning him off and as he grows, he starts to learn to hide his emotions and live life in his closet, naturally affecting his mental health. Those same people just assumed the child has a liking in the opposite gender, while asking this exact question how he knew which sexuality he belongs to.
Let me make this straight, for all the straights out there.
The way you knew you’re straight the moment you entered into this world, the same way, the gays know they aren’t as straight as it seems.
Since heterosexuality somehow has the most people oriented towards it, people just assume everyone is sexually oriented as straight. It just becomes a known fact that a person is into their opposite gender, regardless of the fact that they haven’t ever even talked to that person, they just know they’re attracted towards the opposite gender. They go as far as assuming the same for even celebrities, just like I stated the example about the K-Pop idols above.
A person just assumes the sexuality of an individual of being gay, but knows that individual is straight without that individual having to make any announcement on their sexuality.
Let’s see this another way. Coming out of their closets have always been a great deal for the queer community. They always have the fear that their friends and family wouldn’t accept them for who they are. However, we have never heard a person coming out as ‘straight’ and being thrown out of their homes by their own parent for not being gay.
Heterosexuals aren’t any less valid, though. It’s just, not everyone is a heterosexual and people can be different, which should be normalized. A person can just be born gay, or lesbian, or bisexual, or asexual, or pansexual or any sexual orientation, and that’s alright. They’re humans first too and identity matters to them too. I say it again: HETEROSEXUALITY IS NOT THE DEFAULT SEXUALITY. Get. Over. It.
Humans do be having a habit of jumping straight to conclusions.

Congratulations!! The blog is so aesthetically designed and has such excellent articles. I especially liked the article, 'We as Seasons'.
I wish you the very best for your future endeavours.
Proud of you!
First of all, I must applaud you on writing such a well-structured article. You've made some very valid points here, and I completely agree with you on the idea that heteronormativity is something our society needs to get rid of. Taking the example of K-Pop idols once more, we can see that while people are seemingly offended at the idea of a homosexual couple, they are willing to ship a male and female idol despite them having little to no interaction. Thank you for writing about this topic and helping to open the eyes of many people.
I would stop jumping straight to conclusions from now on...
Thank you for opening our eyes
