Warm winds carried the sound of retreating waves to fill the empty sky. The cool sand lay beside the sea, beyond which the sun made its way west. The serenity was broken by another tear bolting down my cheek, my hand cupping my mouth to hold an escaping sob, the other grabbing my legs to provide some kind of comfort. And comfort I receive, but from your hand stroking my hair. You close in on me, wrapping your arms around my bare shoulder, pressing your head with mine, and with a gentle whisper you say,
“We can finally be together.”
